Job Title: Food Service Dietitian
Job Location: Las Vegas, NV

The Registered Dietitian interacts directly with the Las Vegas senior community through the Meals on Wheels program. This position is instrumental in impacting the Senior community of the Las Vegas Valley through the nutrition-guided regular meals, modified meals for those impacted by various medical/physical conditions and through the Supplements program, all provided at no cost to seniors in need. A background focused on geriatrics and the senior population is desired but not necessary. This position is funded through grants and is an integral part of the Meals on Wheels program.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Establish the operational framework within the Food Services department while overseeing existing and future nutritional programs within the Agency.
  • Develop and deploy upgrades to existing systems and programs that enhance and more effectively provide nutritional training to core constituents.
  • Work with the Executive Chef to develop menus that provide fresh, appealing and varying meals in accordance with USDA criteria.
  • Develop and maintain quality relationships with key personnel at various levels within the departments.
  • Provide accurate and timely documentation using the Nutrition Care Process model.
  • Coordinate regular quality assurance meal testing to evaluate Meals on Wheels menu items.
  • Complete and submit accurate program reports to funding authorities and agency management.
  • Maintain, organize, and file program records, reports, and documents.
  • Develop and conduct presentations to members of the community upon request.
  • Create in-house nutrition programs that benefit the clients of various programs as directed by the VP of Food and Nutrition Services.
  • Oversee and consult on prioritizing referrals for scheduling.
  • Oversee the purchasing, inventory and assembly of nutritional supplements to programs.
  • Protect all confidential information, company property and electronic data.  Comply with safety rules.
  • Other related duties as directed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse, infants to seniors age groups and demonstrate the ability to be sensitive in regards to factors such as age, disability, ethnicity and income level.
  • Operate within the budgeted framework provided
  • Detail oriented and able to multitask.
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication as well as management skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Prioritize work and meet necessary deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computers and software including Microsoft Office and Excel. 
Qualifications
  • Is currently registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and licensed in the state of Nevada.
  • Holds a Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and/or Food and Nutrition from a U.S. regionally-accredited college approved by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
  • Flexible schedule to work after hours and weekends, as necessary.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License with current minimum Nevada state required auto insurance.
  • Bilingual language ability is highly desirable.
Physical Requirements
  • Works in an office environment and may drive throughout Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and the Las Vegas valley.
  • Ability to communicate with a senior population, mothers and children, volunteers, and co-workers.
  • Ability to frequently communicate by telephone and email.
  • Ability to continuously sit and/or stand.  Ability to climb stairs as needed.  Ability to drive vehicle and frequently enter and exit vehicle.
  • Job duties are frequently performed in clients’ homes where temperature variations, as well as pet hair and other allergens may be present.
  • Ability to operate and use office equipment, especially computer, keyboard and mouse.
  • May occasionally lift up to 40 pounds.
